Full glass-fronted buildings are very much in vogue at the moment, with most office buildings being finished completely in glass, to modern designer homes coming with floor to ceiling glass.
Architecturally this leaves a beautiful finish to your building and lets the sun flood your building with light. But once you start to live with this in everyday life you come to realise the downsides, it’s either too hot in summer or extremely cold in winter, unwanted glare all day especially with a south or west-facing property or just as simple as wanting more privacy.
This is when our range of external vertical cassette blinds come in to play. Textile vertical shading also helps contribute to reducing energy consumption within your office or home, bringing down your monthly bills. We are the leading Scottish supplier of the red dot award-winning system manufactured in Germany by our partner, Weinor.
WEINOR PRODUCTS
Their VertiTex II system is a versatile product that can be used in various situations. It comes with various side guide options, from the lightweight wire guide version, which is the best solutions if you want a light and airy finish that isn’t visually impairing. This is best suited for an area with moderate winds. There is also the rail guide version, which is the most popular and is universal so that it can be paired with a wide range of situations. This is best for areas with moderate to high winds.
The fabric and bottom bar are always tight within the side rail channel to stop light bleeding in the side if you go with a full black-out option for privacy.
Lastly, there is the Zip system which is similar in design to the rail option in that it has fitted side channels, but the fabric actually zips into the channel to ensure the fabric is always perfectly taught. This is the perfect solution for areas which are exposed to heavy winds.
CHOOSING A ROLLER BLIND
No matter what option you go for you can choose from a range of different shaped cassettes to match in with your façade. There is the rounded finish, which is suited to face fixings so it allows any water to flow off easily, and then there is the new square finished cassette, perfect for installs within recesses so that it sits flush with the frontage.

ADDITIONAL OPTIONS
There are also hundreds of fabric options, from plain colours acrylic fabrics to add a splash of colour to your property, to perforated fabrics that block heat & glare entering your building, but still gives you an unobstructed view of the outside to enjoy your view.

Deans Shades & Graphics was established in the 1960s’ by its founder the late Stan Martin. From then until now many generations of the family have joined up and put their blood sweat and tears into learning the family trade.
The bonus of having 3 generations working at the one company is that we still have the years of experience provided by our founding member but have been lucky to add sons and grandsons who help keep Deans Shades & Graphics relevant and filled with modern ideas. During our starting days, we worked closely with the world’s longest-running awning company, where we helped design many parts that are still used in modern awnings and canopies today.
Over the years we have had factories throughout the UK, being based in London, Manchester and Liverpool – and even for a 10 year period we set up and operated through America. It was during this period of growth where we found the then-new product, self-adhesive window film, which would go on to shape the worlds shading needs.
Since we were one of the first companies in the UK to start supplying window film, we have evolved alongside the changing rules, regulations and requirements that go along with window film to ensure we have been at the forefront of the trade from start to present day.
But the one thing that we have learned is that to never forget your roots, and eventually, we settled back in Scotland to bring our expertise together and become Scotland largest and longest-running company in both the awning and canopy trade as well as the window film and graphics.

Surveying – we offer a totally free survey service throughout the whole of Scotland for our awnings, window film & manifestations and commercial window blinds services.
Design service
When a standard design won’t work for your premises we can design and supply a bespoke canopy or manufacture custom brackets to allow us to carry out the installation that others turn down. This is also the case for graphics, manifestations and window blinds.
Finance/leasing options
We appreciate that some of our premium priced, so we have created financing options to help you achieve your dream without breaking the bank all in the one go. Furthermore giving you the customer more control over your cash flow.
Installation
With a combined 30 years’ installation experience by our awning installation team and combined 50 years’ experience by our window film installation team and commercial blind fitters, we can promise a perfect finish every time.
Awning & canopy maintenance
When you buy one of our awnings you buy it for life, but after a couple of years, you may wish to apply a new cover or change your branding. We can replace the cover on all types of awnings & canopies, and free service is included in every re-covering.
Free guarantees & warranties
All of our products carry a minimum of 2 years warranty on all parts and installation, with other product carrying a huge 10-year warranty as standard.
Hand-painted signwriting service
For when you want to add extra advertisement or design to your awning, we have worked with the same signwriter for the past 25 years to upkeep the high finish that the big brand names require.
