Opaque & Frosted Window Film

(A.k.a.) SandBlast Film & Etched Film

Frosted window film is a thin translucent material that is applied directly to your windows or doors, on smooth non-textured glass, on wooden, metal, aluminium or UPVC framed windows. Once applied, the frosted vinyl film gives your windows the appearance of frosted or sandblasted glass, making it opaque but translucent and ideal for day and night privacy. Window frosting can also be used to obscure an unsightly view, or to enhance security by hiding your valuable items from prying eyes.

It is now widely used as a modern, practical and cost-effective option to acid-etched or sandblasted glass. Glass frost film is multi-directional so will look the same whether applied horizontally or vertically.

Unlike reflective light-based privacy film options, frosted window films don’t rely on any light differential from one side of the pane to another, allowing for complete privacy 24hrs per day. Depending on the situation and design of the premises there are several options available for window frosting. They are;

Plain frost

This film is ideal for most privacy-related purposes and is perfect for any commercial purpose. It is colourless and looks very subtle when applying to the glass, and the loss of natural light is minimal. The frost effect of this film is achieved by texturizing the film to disrupt people from seeing through.

White Matte Frost

This is denser and more opaque, film, commonly used in bathrooms, restrooms and shower rooms. As well as being textured, this film is coloured white to enhance the brilliance of light being transmitted through it, as well as to increase privacy.

Opal Frost

This vinyl film is designed to mimic an acid-etched window pane. As well as bring slightly textured, this film is dyed a light shade of grey, with darker pigments added in to give a more suitable frosted effect. Due to the malleability of this vinyl, it is often what frosted manifestation graphics are made from.

Opal Crystal

Similar to the above opal frost, our crystal vinyl is slightly textured and coloured a light grey as a base cost. However, instead of being manufactured using grey pigments, this material is made with larger silver flecks throughout, creating a denser and brighter form of frosting. This material is available in several colour options, including standard frost, gold, rose, blue, mint and yellow.

Opaque Solid Colour Vinyls

Sometimes a situation calls for the maximum amount of privacy, such as when obscuring views into an office at ground level, or when needed to hide unsightly building works behind a pane of glass. For these instances, we stock a large supply and choice of full opaque sign vinyl, suitable for any purpose. Generally, these are split down into the below categories;

Gloss Effect vinyl’s

Available in a vast array of colours throughout a variety of series, ranging from pastel yellows to vibrant greens, our stock of glass vinyl has an option suitable for nearly everyone. These vinyls are ideal for installation internally or externally in order to provide needed privacy as well as enhance colour and aesthetics.

Matte Effect opaque vinyl’s

This category is identical to the above in terms of materials and adhesives used throughout, however, at the end of the manufacturing process, the face of the vinyl is run through a light texturizing roller. This has the effect of reducing reflection and glare and therefore can be ideal for installation internally where there is a large amount of light, preventing discomfort by reducing reflective surfaces.

Metallic opaque vinyls

Designed and manufactured to stand out as much as possible, this series features a vibrant colour scheme. As well as making use of heavily pigmented dyes, this material is also manufactured with flecks of polished aluminium throughout, maximising glimmer when exposed to bright light. This series can be ideal for venues featuring spotlights such as exhibition centres.

Lightstop 100%

Designed to offer the maximum amount of privacy as well as completely cut out the transmission of light from one side of the glass to the other. This series is manufactured in either black or white options and features a sheet of solid aluminium foil layered in between two polyester sheets to create a flexible film capable of preventing any light from coming through.
